Mongolia Collapse for 10 Runs, Bharadwaj Leads Singapore to Victory

Singapore’s 17-Year-Old Spinner Takes Six Wickets

Mongolia was bowled out for just 10 runs in a T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier match against Singapore, matching the record for the lowest total ever in men’s T20I cricket. This score equaled the 10 runs made by Isle of Man against Spain the previous year.

Match Summary

  • Singapore: 13 for 1
  • Mongolia: 10 (Bharadwaj 6-3)
  • Singapore won by: 9 wickets with 115 balls remaining

Singapore chased the small target of 11 runs in just five balls, even after losing a wicket on the first delivery. This win marked their second victory in the tournament. Mongolia, on the other hand, have lost all four of their games and are currently at the bottom of the standings.

Harsha Bharadwaj’s Record-Breaking Performance

Harsha Bharadwaj, a 17-year-old legspinner from Singapore, delivered an outstanding performance by taking 6 wickets for just 3 runs in his four overs. This became the second-best bowling figures in men’s T20I cricket. He struck early, taking two wickets in the first over and five of the six Mongolian wickets during the powerplay.

Mongolia’s Struggles Continue

Mongolia’s batting performance was poor, with five players failing to score (scoring ducks). This marks their third time in 2024 alone that they have registered one of the four lowest totals in men’s T20I cricket.

They batted for ten overs, including three maidens. Their longest partnerships—one for the fourth wicket and one for the last wicket—each lasted only 11 balls.

Singapore’s Quick Chase

In response, Singapore quickly chased down the target. Raoul Sharma hit a six off his first ball, and William Simpson finished the match by hitting a four to seal the win within the first over.
