Naimur Rahman, who was the first Test captain for Bangladesh, resigned from his role as the director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Reasons for Resignation
Naimur Rahman had served as a BCB director three times but decided to step down early from his latest term. This decision was influenced by recent political changes in Bangladesh. The BCB had connections with the former ruling party, Awami League, and since Naimur did not receive a nomination in the recent general elections, he chose to resign. Previously, he served as a member of parliament twice under the Awami League.

Naimur added, “I tried my best to contribute to the development of cricket in Bangladesh. I also want to thank the councilors who elected me as their representative on the board.“
Future Plans
He concluded by saying, “If BCB needs me in the future, I would love to contribute to Bangladesh cricket again.“
