Rishabh Pant Returns to Test Rankings at No. 6

Rishabh Pant has made a comeback in the ICC Test batting rankings, landing at No. 6 after scoring 39 and 109 runs in his first Test since a car accident nearly ended his career. He played in the Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai, where India won by 280 runs. His performance earned him 731 rating points.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Prabath Jayasuriya also climbed up the rankings. Jaiswal moved up to fifth place with his score of 56 in India’s first innings, giving him 751 points. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma slipped from No. 5 to No. 10 after scoring just 6 and 5 in Chennai.

    • Joe Root is leading with 899 points.
    • Kane Williamson is second with 852 points.
    • Daryl Mitchell and Steven Smith are just above Jaiswal, with 760 and 757 points, respectively.

Virat Kohli fell five spots to No. 12 after scoring 6 and 17 runs, while Shubman Gill rose five places to No. 14 after scoring an unbeaten 119 in the second innings.

Bowling Rankings Update

In bowling, Jayasuriya made a big leap, moving up five spots to No. 8 after taking 4 for 136 and 5 for 68 in Galle. R Ashwin leads the bowling rankings, followed by Jasprit Bumrah and other prominent bowlers.

    • Jasprit Bumrah: 4 for 50 and 1 for 24
    • Ravindra Jadeja: 2 for 19 and 3 for 58

Kamindu Mendis also moved up three spots to No. 16 after scoring 114 runs against New Zealand.

ODI Rankings Highlight

Rising Stars in ODIs

In the ODI rankings, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Travis Head made significant gains. Gurbaz, after scoring 105 and 89 in the last two ODIs against South Africa, moved up ten spots to No. 8. He is the first Afghan player to enter the top ten in ODIs.

Travis Head scored 154 not out against England and climbed seven spots to No. 9.

Bowling Successes

Rashid Khan was another key player for Afghanistan, taking seven wickets in their series against South Africa. His efforts moved him up eight spots to No. 3 among ODI bowlers, trailing only Keshav Maharaj and Adam Zampa.
