Rohit Sharma, playing for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), is widely regarded as one of the best batters in the history of the league. Rohit began his IPL journey with the Deccan Chargers. From 2008 to 2010, he played a key role in the team’s success, including their title win in 2009. Rohit Sharma has been a standout batter throughout his IPL career. He played as a middle-order batter for much of his career, but in 2018, he moved up to open the innings, where he found even more success. He has firmly established himself as one of the best openers in the league.

Rohit Sharma’s Overall IPL Stats
In his IPL career so far, Rohit has played 250 matches, making him the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament’s history. He is one of only four players to have scored over 6500 runs in the IPL, with a total of 6508 runs at an average of 30.13 and a strike rate of 131.29. He has also hit two centuries and 42 half-centuries.
Rohit impressed right from his debut season in 2008, scoring 404 runs at an average of over 36 with a strike rate close to 150. His standout season came in 2013 when he took over as Mumbai Indians’ captain midway through the season. He led from the front, scoring 538 runs at an average of around 40 and earning the Player of the Match award in the final.
However, IPL 2022 was his worst season, where he struggled both as a batter and as captain. Mumbai Indians finished last that year, and Rohit managed just 268 runs at a disappointing average of under 20.
Aside from 2018 and 2022, Rohit has consistently scored over 300 runs every season, proving his quality as a batter. In IPL 2024, he has been in tremendous form, including a brilliant century.
