Chris Gayle, known as the “Universe Boss,” holds the record for the fastest IPL century, scoring 175 runs off 66 balls for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors in 2013. He reached his fifty in just 17 balls and needed only 13 more deliveries to complete his century. Gayle finished unbeaten, hitting 13 fours and 17 sixes, the highest number of sixes in a single IPL innings.
Yusuf Pathan’s powerful hundred came while playing for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians in 2010. Chasing 213, Rajasthan was in trouble at 40/3 before Yusuf entered and smashed 100 in just 37 balls. Though he was run out with 40 runs needed, Rajasthan fell short by 4 runs.
3. David Miller – 38 Balls (2013)
David Miller’s explosive knock of 101 off 38 balls helped Kings XI Punjab beat RCB in a 2013 match. Chasing 191, Miller turned the game with 8 fours and 7 sixes. He was dropped at 42 by Virat Kohli but responded by scoring 26 runs in the next over, securing a comfortable 6-wicket win.
4. Adam Gilchrist – 42 Balls (2008)
In IPL’s first season, Adam Gilchrist scored the fastest century of that edition for Deccan Chargers against Mumbai Indians, chasing 155. Gilchrist’s unbeaten 109 helped his team win by 10 wickets with 48 balls remaining.
5. AB de Villiers – 43 Balls (2016)
AB de Villiers, known for his 360-degree shots, scored a stunning 129 off 52 balls for RCB against Gujarat Lions in 2016. He, along with Virat Kohli, added a world record 229-run partnership for the second wicket, with de Villiers reaching his century in just 43 balls.
6. David Warner – 43 Balls (2017)
In 2017, David Warner hit a 126 off 59 balls for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Kolkata Knight Riders. His partnership of 139 runs with Shikhar Dhawan helped Sunrisers to a total of 209, eventually leading to a comfortable 48-run victory.
Sanath Jayasuriya’s century for Mumbai Indians against Chennai Super Kings in 2008 was a powerful innings, helping Mumbai chase down 157 in just 13.5 overs. Jayasuriya finished with 114 not out, including 11 sixes.
8. Mayank Agarwal – 45 Balls (2020)
Mayank Agarwal’s 106 off 50 balls for Kings XI Punjab in 2020, including a 45-ball century, led his team to a total of 223. However, despite Agarwal’s efforts, Punjab lost to Rajasthan Royals in the final over.
9. Murali Vijay – 46 Balls (2010)
In a high-scoring game in 2010, Murali Vijay scored 127 off 56 balls for Chennai Super Kings, hitting 11 sixes. His century off 46 balls helped CSK post 246, which was the highest team total in IPL at the time.
10. Chris Gayle – 46 Balls (2011)
Chris Gayle makes another appearance on this list for his century off 46 balls in 2011 against Kings XI Punjab. He later took 3 wickets, including the wicket of Piyush Chawla, contributing to RCB’s victory.
