India won against South Africa by seven runs in the final of the ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Saturday, June 29. Batting first, India scored 176-7 with Virat Kohli making 76 runs and Axar Patel contributing 47 runs.
South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller almost led their team to victory in response. However, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and later Hardik Pandya kept their composure, securing India’s win.
This victory marked India’s first T20 World Cup win since 2007, ending a 17-year wait. Rohit Sharma was the only player remaining from the previous winning squad.
