When asked about current players, he named Virat Kohli, Steven Smith, and Joe Root as batsmen he would have liked to challenge.

Ambrose was known for his pace and bounce, which made him a dominant force in the 1990s. Throughout his international career, he claimed a total of 630 wickets, making him one of the greatest bowlers the game has seen.

Bowlers Need More Recognition

Ambrose also mentioned that bowlers don’t always get the recognition they deserve compared to batters. He noted that when people are asked about their favorite cricketer, they usually name a batter. However, Ambrose, who admires Wasim Akram, always leans towards bowlers.

Advice for Young Cricketers

Ambrose shared some advice for young cricketers, urging them to focus on red-ball cricket to develop their skills. According to him, it’s easier to transition from red-ball to T20 cricket. Most successful T20 players have a strong foundation in red-ball cricket, where they learn the key elements of batting and building an innings.
